Groups for Kids
Here at Sum of Us Kids, our clinicians are big believers in supporting all kids to embrace their best selves. We’re not into ‘fixing’ social ‘skills’, and our groups therefore focus on developing esteem and connections and, of course, having fun! Check out below to see what groups we have on offer at the moment.
Uniquely Me: Social Groups for 8-12 year olds
If there is one thing more autistic adults wished for when they were younger, it was to meet more people just like themselves. In this group, children will meet their neurokin and explore together what it means to be autistic in today’s world. Children will walk away with a greater sense of their neurodivergent identity and how to advocate for themselves in this world. Session includes exploratory identity work as well as bonding over various card and board games.
‘Uniquely Me’ is created and run by our Developmental Psychologist, Sandhya Menon on Wednesdays: 10-12 year olds 4pm to 5pm, 8-9 year olds 5pm to 6pm
Inclusive Kids Drama Program
Silvina D’Alessandro inclusive drama classes aim to improve emotional well-being and social skills through the arts, with a primary focus on drama. Created and run by our multi-talented speech-language pathologist, drama teacher, creative arts therapist and play therapist, Silvina D’Alessandro, the classes include drama, movement, art, and mindfulness activities culminating in an open session for family and friends on the last day!
Upcoming programs available for children ages 6-8 years old, 9-12 years old and teens. Programs run on Saturdays.
Yes, if you have self-managed or plan-managed NDIS funds in ‘capacity building’, you should be able to use those funds to cover our parent workshops.
