Melissa Damin

Melissa has over 12 years’ experience supporting young people as a school psychologist and in private practice. She has worked extensively in multidisciplinary teams and highly values the collaboration with other professionals, to achieve the best outcomes for clients.

Melissa has experience with a range of presenting difficulties including anxiety, social skill deficits, behavioural and emotional regulation difficulties, learning difficulties and Autism spectrum disorder. Melissa provides comprehensive cognitive and educational assessments to help determine a young person’s strengths and difficulties, in order to guide understanding, intervention and classroom support strategies. Melissa has spent most of her career supporting young people within the school environment, and is therefore able to communicate these results in a way that is accessible and useful for parents, school staff and the young person. Melissa also provides comprehensive assessments of Autism spectrum disorder and is able to support families through the journey of diagnosis, accessing intervention and identifying supports necessary for wellbeing and success at school.

When undertaking these assessments, it is imperative that a young person feels comfortable and engaged in the process. With her experience as both a clinician and a mother of two young children, Melissa is able to help young people to feel comfortable and at ease in her presence through her warm, engaging and playful manner.

Melissa is a true coffee lover and is feels very fortunate to live and work in the inner-west, well-known for some of the best cafes in Melbourne.

Melissa is at Sum of Us Kids on Mondays.
